T
he Guide-Companion is a service designed to assist, to facilitate to empower families, friends and significant others in their process of adjustment during the time of their loved ones approach to the final stages of living.
Sensitive management of physical and emotional needs is constantly addressed and available to the person approaching death, and to the family support network involved in their loved ones end of life care.

During the time of watching and waiting, Rosemary Wallace has found that one of the most needed resources is that of providing a ‘listening ear’, of being listened to, of being given permission to be what is being felt.

Throughout this period of waiting time, disbelief, anger, fear, isolation, depression, tension, wanting to bargain, to trade places with the dying person "take me, not my baby", can be felt as a fleeting experience, as a lingering and an overpowering experience.

Rosemary offers practical suggestions regarding end of life care including; home nursing, hospice involvement, nursing agencies, sibling support, respite care, time out, and spiritual counsel.

Being a Guide-Companion to the dying person and their families can be likened to that of a great and mighty oak tree: It offers stability at a time of potential chaos and crisis – it offers a strong and often silent sanctuary and a place for personal grieving. It offers time and space for non-judgmental communication. It offers love with grace during times of despair and disbelief, at times of acceptance and relief.
